The Royal Ice Sale made Thursday night a truly memorable night here at the 2008 Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic. The audience was asked to take a moment of silence in memory of Travis Pieper. Pieper passed away a few weeks ago as a result of a car wreck. The Pieper family was instrumental in getting the Red Angus show and sale started at the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic and Travis had been a long time consignor in the Red Angus show and sale. A scholarship is being established to be awarded annually in memory of Travis Pieper. The sale started off with a choice of two embryo packages. The proceeds will go to the Travis Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Embryo Package was sold for $7,050 to some friends of Travis Pieper, who then donated it back to sell again, it sold for $1,500. The remaining package sold for $1,650. All buyers were friends of Travis Pieper. The buyers consisted of cattlemen from all across the nation.
